BTEG
The Black Training & Enterprise Group is a national organisation that works to improve opportunities in education and employment for black and ethnic communities. We believe that full and effective black and minority ethnic community involvement in decision making and service delivery are essential to achieving this aim. www.bteg.co.uk
 
The Centre for Education Success at BTEG works to raise the educational standards of children and young people from black and minority ethnic communities. The CES commissioned a report to investigate examples of partnerships between supplementary schools and maintained schools in 2008. The case study can be viewed at:

Travelwise
CEDF has signed upto the Travelwise initiative. This scheme was set up by Birmingham City Council to encourage staff and users of community venues to explore modes of transport other than personal car to reach the centre. CEDF encourages staff and users to car share when visiting or attending the centre. We have signed up to this we have agreed to inform the staff and users about the initiative and its benefits.

Barford Tigers Hockey Club
This is one of CEDF’s newer partnerships. The hockey club which was set up in 1966 approached CEDF with a view to helping children and young people achieve physically and their participation has had a positive impact on their academic studies. The club has invited pupils to join their youth team.

Hamstead Hall School
"This secondary school and CLC (community learning centre) in Handsworth Wood is one of our first partner organisations. Our work began in 2003 and the partnership is built on trust. CEDF has excellent links with school's management team and is grateful to the school for opening its doors to CEDF and seeing the potential in ideas."

Birmingham City Council
CEDF has worked closely with the BASS Effectiveness Division / Supplementary Schools Department. The Department provides guidance, support and funding for the Panjabi School.

The National Resource Centre for Supplementary Education (NRC)

is a strategic and support organisation for the supplementary education sector across England. With funding and support from the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, it aims to champion excellence, innovation and partnership in supplementary education. It is working closely with supplementary schools to help:

» Raise the profile of supplementary education
» Raise pupils’ achievement levels
» Raise funds
 
The school has signed upto the scheme’s Code of Practice

The school is now working towards an example of Best Practice Supplementary School. The NRC (LINK to website) runs a quality framework which is a voluntary recognition scheme, which is independent, peer-assessed and self-regulated. It aims to recognise, celebrate, record, and improve the achievements of supplementary schools. CEDF Panjabi School is working towards the first stage – the Bronze Award.
